THE BEGINNING

When MASC first began, its committee was comprised of manufacturers in the screw machine area with a goal to provide courses that teach trainees how to become professional machine operators through hands-on training, practical application and a straightforward curriculum.

GROWTH & SUCCESS

Ultimately, through word-of-mouth and student success stories, MASC and its educational offerings garnered the interest of other facets of the manufacturing community. This prompted a  revision and enhancement the curriculum, adding courses that covered eyelets, headers and computer-based applications as well as the flexibility to provide customized courses to meet specific needs of Connecticut manufacturers.

AN EYE TOWARDS THE FUTURE

Today, MASC has continued to increase the number of courses per year, aiming to meet the staffing needs of manufacturers. There are seven-morning cycles and two evening cycles per year. New course offerings CNC training, which utilizes the facility’s additions of Haas machining and milling centers.

With an eye toward the future, MASC plans to work with the manufacturers to design and implement courses that are needed to help in the 21st century. MASC will also continue to address the area’s need for machine operators, including CNC and support staff.
